ABOUT US
The ILS Story
What started in the late 1970s as an independent cattle feedlot in Central Kansas has, over the last 40 years, evolved and grown to become Innovative Livestock Services, Inc., one of the nations’ leading cattle feeding, farming, and agribusiness enterprises with operations in Kansas and Nebraska. Throughout the last four decades of growth, however, ILS has remained committed to key pillars of the company’s founders, including leading from the front and embracing innovation, focusing on economic and environmental sustainability, and setting the gold standard in cattle care practices.
Each business unit, including cattle feeding, farming, and our subsidiary companies, independently focuses on quality and customer service to maintain established business relationships. However, by working together, ILS is able to provide a unique and broad array of services and products to our long-term and new customers alike while also supporting rural communities. These economies of scale provide the framework for greater efficiency and improved performance. We believe this vertically integrated business structure is not just a business model for modern agriculture but rather a pathway to long-term sustainability.
The heart of our companies are the people, and we are proud to provide good jobs for people committed to hardwork and who are dedicated to producing food, feed, fuel and fiber. Our committed team members, with the support of our strong management team and experienced Board of Directors, allow ILS to lead the way in our core industries while keeping a constant focus on future growth and innovation.
“there is no nobler of a profession than to grow quality food for mankind.”

ILS FARMS
ILS Farms originated in 2007 from the union of Great Bend Feeding and Ward Feed Yard, situated in Central Kansas. As time progressed, ILS Farms has expanded to over double its original size, spanning across Barton, Pawnee, and Stafford counties.
The farm's primary crops include alfalfa, corn, soybeans, and various small grains like rye, triticale, and wheat. These crops are utilized in various ways by ILS Farms, such as using corn produced in ILS, Inc feedyards for cattle feed rations, and small grain seed production to support a comprehensive grazing program managed in conjunction with the feedyards.
With ILS, Inc's transition towards a vertically integrated model, the farm has gained opportunities for growth and innovation. For example, adopting advanced irrigation technology has allowed for increased logistical efficiency while simultaneously conserving water resources. Additionally, the farm's access to organic fertilizers, such as cattle manure, has helped reduce the reliance on commercial fertilizers, thus rendering ILS Farms more sustainable for the future.
